Attended Heavender High School 1947-1951

Football: three-year varsity letterman, team captain, All-League junior & senior years

Baseball: four-year varsity letterman

Basketball: two-year varsity letterman

Attended University of Oklahoma (1951-1952) on athletic scholarship and played freshman football

Member of the United States Marine Corps 1953-1955

Awarded athletic scholarship to University of Arizona. Attended University of Arizona from 1955-1958 and was a three-year varsity letterman, team captain, and was selected and played in the 1957 All-American All-Star game

Received Masters of Education in 1959 from University of Arizona

Played professional football with the Washington Redskins (1958) and Denver Broncos (1960)

Selected by CIF and United Savings-Helms Athletic Foundation as assistant coach in 1971 and as head coach in 1972 of the California Prep All-Stars that played the Hawaii Prep All-Stars in the Aloha Senior Football Classic

Coached “West” team in the 1987 Ventura County All-Star game

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Organized first booster club in Oxnard Union High School District

Helped organize first Youth Football program in Oxnard

Served as facility director for Oxnard annual 4th of July fireworks show for eight years

Received the Oxnard Union High School District superintendent’s Most Inspirational Employees Service award in 1989
