Cher Glass was a true pioneer in women’s coaching. When the effects of Title IX began to be felt and the demand for female coaches was high, Cher, with no experience, took over coaching the girls’ Volleyball team at Nordhoff High School. With extreme dedication, hard work and natural talent, she developed into one of the area’s most outstanding coaches.

She started in 1974 as Cheerleader Advisor, and in 1977 took over the Volleyball team, a post she held until 1996.

In that period of time, her Volleyball teams won Frontier League titles nine times – 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. The Nordhoff Lady Rangers won four CIF-SS Championships – 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1992. In 1985 they were Runner-Up State Champions, and in 1986 and 1992 they were State Champions.

In 1983 Cher added the duties of Athletic Director to her portfolio, becoming one of only a handful of female high school Athletic Directors in the State.
