Born October 1, 1929 in Hollister, California

Attended Ventura High School 1946-1948

Played football for three years and was starting quarterback for Coach Bob “Pop” Gowder

Played baseball for three years for Coach Joe Buckmasted — voted team captain in 1947

Attended Ventura College, where he caught for Pirate team coached by Bob Musick

Attended California Polytechnical College, where he played two varsity seasons on both the football and baseball teams. In his junior and senior years as a shortstop and relief pitcher was named MVP of the baseball squad

OFFICIATING CAREER

Football 1958-1989

Youth Football — officiated in the youth football program throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara counties for 31 years

CIF Football — officiated freshmen, sophomore and varsity contests for 31 years; had the honor of officiating in 12 Lions All-Star Games

Baseball 1958-1992

Little League — Elks American Little League coach and umpire. Held position of chief umpire for nine years

Officiated American Legion, Pony Leagues, Senior Leagues, and Mexican Semi-Pro Leagues throughout Ventura County

CIF Baseball — 34 years of experience in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties — invited to officiate at Southern Section Championship Game played at Dodger Stadium 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989

College officiating experience in the Western States Conference, NCAA, and NAIA

Softball — officiated high school, college and slo-pitch in the city recreational programs

Baseball and Softball Instructional Chairman — provided classes, training programs, and clinics for umpires

Presently active in the Northern California San Joaquin Officials Association
