Fredrick Lamb

Tennis Coach, Ojai Valley Tennis official

Born December 29, 1922 in Oakland, California. Educated in private elementary schools in Rome, Italy, Glion, Switzerland, and Los Angeles, California.

Graduated from Thacher School in Ojai, California.

Excelled at tennis at Thacher where he was captain and won the school championship in 1940.

Coached Thacher School tennis teams since 1955.

Won C.I.F. championships in 1955, 1957, 1958, 1971, 1972, 1983 and 1984.

His team placed second in C.I.F. 1956, 1973, 1981 and 1982.

Served on the Yale Committee for enrollments and scholarships.

President of the local chapter of the National Cum Laude Society.

Member of the Ojai Music Festival board of directors.

Chairman History Department Thacher School – 22 years.

Member of the board of the Ojai Valley Tennis Club since 1955.

Vice President Ojai Valley Tennis Club since 1963.

Official referee – Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament, 1984, 1986

Director of the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament since 1958, the oldest tournament west of the Mississippi River.

A role model and teacher of sportsmanship, good citizenship and fine tennis for young men and women for over 34 years.

The hat shown in the above photo has become a symbol, and worn to more than 20 years of tournaments.
