Jerry started his coaching and teaching career in 1989 at Pittsburg High School in Northern California. In 1991, Pittsburg defeated Concord DeLeSalle, a team that had the longest winning
streak in high school football history. After a very successful high school coaching career, Jerry was hired in 2000 as an assistant football coach at American River College (ARC) in
Sacramento. In 2005, the defense coached by Jerry was the No. 1 rated JC defense in the state.

After earning his Master’s Degree in 2001, Jerry became a full-time faculty member at ARC in 2002 while he continued as an assistant football coach. In 2007, Jerry was named head football coach at American River College. In 2009, Jerry’s ARC football team finished the season ranked No. 14 in the state.

In 1996, Jerry was inducted into the Sacramento State Football Hall of Fame.

Jerry, his wife Rosanne, and three children reside in Roseville (northern California) and he is still the head football coach at American River College.
