Lettered in four sports at Oxnard High School: football, basketball, track and baseball.

Outstanding track star at Oxnard High School.

Teamed with Bud Howser to win southern section C.I.F. Track and Field Championship in 1920.

Lettered in football and track and field for four years at Occidental College.

Also lettered in baseball and basketball at Occidental College.

Named to the Little All American Football team while at Occidental.

Called “The Iron Man of Occidental” because of all the track events he competed in.

Scored more points in several meets that the opposing team.

Occidental annually presents “the Cliff Argue Iron Man Trophy” to the athlete who scores the most track points during the track season.

Named to the Occidental Hall of Fame in track and field.

Member of the 1924 U.S. Olympic Team in the Pentathlon Event in Paris, France.

Played an important role in bringing the 1960 Winter Olympic Games to Squaw Valley, California.
