Keith lettered in Football, Basketball and Baseball at Newbury Park H.S. In Baseball he played shortstop, pitcher and center field for the Panthers.
He was named All Marmonte League three times and All Ventura County twice. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the fifth round.

In Basketball he averaged twenty-one points and six assists per game and was honored as an All Marmonte League pick and was All County in 1992.

In Football, however, he achieved his greatest accomplishments. Playing quarterback for the Panthers, he was the Marmonte League MVP who led his team to championships in 1992 and 1993. The 1993 team had a 14-0 record and was CIF champion. In the championship game versus Hawthorne, Keith made a dazzling 98-yard run in the waning seconds of the game to beat the Cougars 22-14 to win the CIF championship. That run is considered by many to be the best individual play in Ventura County history. He owns many records including 11,433 total yards, 107 total touchdowns and a career completion rate of 66% in thirty-five high school games. Keith was County Player of the Year twice, State Player of the Year in 1993 and the PARADE All American Quarterback of 1994.

He accepted a Football scholarship to the University of Arizona where he accumulated fourteen Wildcat records. Keith led Arizona to their best record in school history in 1998 with a 12-1 season. In 1996, he was freshman PARADE All American. In 1998 Keith led the Wildcats to a 23-20 victory over Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl and was named Bowl MVP. He was also an All PAC 10 quarterback, East/West Shrine Game Quarterback and Hula Bowl All Star Quarterback.

He was drafted by the Canadian Football league and played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Edmonton Eskimos and the Calgary Stampeders.

Since the end of his professional career, Keith has coached for Newbury Park H.S. Keith works for Collegiate Sports of America Prep Star, an organization which helps high school students to earn scholarships.
