Kermit Oliver “K.O.” Webster

Professional Football, Youth Sports Organizer

Born in 1909 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Attended elementary and high school in Longmont, Colorado.

1925-29 – Played quarterback for three years earning 2nd Team All-Conference in his senior year.

Lettered three years in basketball.

1929-31 – Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas Played quarterback and end for three years earning Honorable Mention All-Conference end.

1932 – St. Louis Blues professional football team, played end.

1942 – Commissioned as Lieutenant, j.g. in the U.S. Navy. Assigned to Port Hueneme as Assistant Port Director, later became Port Director.

1945 – Discharged from Navy as Commander, became Planning Director for Port Hueneme Navy Base until retirement in 1975.

1948 – As a member of the Kiwanis Club, organized and started the first Little League in Ventura County.

1950-53 – Managed Kiwanis Little League teams.

1954- Elected District Representative, responsible to the National Little League office for all teams and leagues in Ventura County area.

1954-65 – Umpired and put on clinics for the development of Little League umpires.

1949 – Joined the Southern California Football, Baseball and Basketball Officials Association.

1949-72 – Officiated high school and junior college games. Teamed with Bill Bradford and developed the instructional team for the Ventura Association which was instrumental in the Ventura Association becoming one of the best in the state.

Teamed with Bill Bradford as the only C.I.F. sanctioned instructors for officiating clinics.

1973-78 – Chief evaluator of officials and officiating teams for C.I.F. Commissioner of Officials.

1963 – Assisted in the planning and organizing of the Kiwanis/Ventura High School first Annual Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Continued his involvement in various capacities to the present time.

1977 – Instrumental in planning and organizing of the Kiwanis/Buena High School Girls’ Basketball Tournament.

1979 – Won the First Annual Kiwanis sponsored racquetball championship. Still actively playing and teaching racquetball.
