Rich moved to Ventura County in 1976 and began coaching Baseball and Basketball at both Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks High Schools. He has been the Head Lancer Boys Varsity Coach for sixteen years compiling a record of 315-119 to present. His teams have won eight Marmonte League Championships and he has been selected Marmonte League Coach of the Year six times. The Lancers went to the CIF Finals three times winning in 2009.

Rich has been L.A. Times Coach of the Year, Valley Sports Foundation “Battle of the Valley All Star Coach”, Ventura County Coach of the Year three times and Division 2 AA CIF Coach of the Year.

Rich has truly worked with young people all his life. For twenty-five years he was the owner of a children’ s summer camp called “Kids Camp” as well as his thirty-five year teaching career.

His hobby is collecting antique clocks and he also enjoys both gardening and fly fishing.

Rich lives in Moorpark with his wife, Michelle, where they have raised their children Eric and Brittany.
